As the topic suggests - I’m looking to learn about what tools others are using to collect feedback “on page” from users when running a public beta? I see most often that a simply feedback survey link is offered, but I have also seen what I call the “smiley face” surveys at the component level on pages.
Guides.service.gov.au stores the feedback in Google Analytics as custom data.
ABS also uses hotjar for the beta website feedback.
We were looking into Hotjar, however my team has received advice that it’s not accessible for people who use a keyboard to navigate - which could influence the long term, post-beta use.
Always great to put accessibility first.
Note that with Hotjar, it captures clicks/events and generates heatmaps/user flows, which can give you more information and context, than just a comment box. Use both methods and you’ve got your accessibility covered.
