myGov Beta component

Snackbars provide brief messages about a process that has been performed or failed to perform. The component is also known as a toast. (See Google’s Material Design for more information)

It appears in a way that does not interrupt a user experience, appearing in the bottom-left of the screen on desktop and bottom of a mobile device. It disappears automatically after several seconds, but can also be dismissed by the user with the close ‘x’ button.

There are several variations of the snackbar:

  • Error
  • Information
  • Success

For each of these variations, there may also be the following format types:

  • Description only
  • Heading and description
  • Heading only
  • Bold label and description (e.g. Error: We weren’t able to complete your request)

Rationale for submission:
No equivalent component in DTA Design System.
