RPA and auto testing

Some food for thought – while probably not yet appropriate and currently more targeted at lifecycle work, I increasingly think RPA will be a big thing in the testing space in the years ahead. At the DTA summit they had a presentation on some RPA automation of business processes using the Blue Pyramid tool.

While not testing focussed, I noted the possibility to reverse the testing pyramid via such tools since they focus heavily on automating a whole business process, even at the GUI end in a highly reliable way with minimal coding skills and presumably low maintenance. I would be interested in experimenting with a tool such as Blue Prism to see what we could do with auto testing. Since it avoids coding skills it could be a useful thing for your average tester…

Any thoughts?
